Competition Format and Structure
The competition was designed to challenge students' scientific acumen and engineering creativity through two engaging rounds:
- Preliminary Round: Participants completed an online exam covering a range of scientific disciplines, including math, physics, biology, chemistry, and environmental engineering. The exam emphasized analytical thinking and practical problem-solving, with a strong focus on applying scientific knowledge to real-world engineering problems.
- Final Round: Top 8 scoring teams from each of the middle school and high school categories advanced to a live Zoom competition. Here, they tackled one of four real-world engineering challenges, each tied to a pressing global issue. The final prompts were:
